The Show Me State (Missouri's unofficial nickname) borders a
total of eight different US states. The state of Missouri started the Missouri
Lottery in 1985, and since 1994 has used the lottery proceeds to help fund the
state's public education programs. The MO Lottery is also a member of the
Multi-State Lottery Association.
The Missouri Lottery results uses a computerized drawing system, which was implemented on July 20, 2020 . The system uses advanced technology to pick the numbers for Missouri's in-state Draw Games (Lotto, Show Me Cash, pick 4 and Pick 3).
The computerized system, named Origin (manufactured by Smartplay International, Inc.), is stored in a secure draw room in Jefferson City, Missouri. To provide more security, these draw systems are not connected to the Internet or any other network source. The room has no other phone or data lines from which to send or receive information for security purposes.
