About New Jersey Lottery

New Jersey voters approved of the state of New Jersey Lottery in November of 1969. More than 80% of voters approved of this institution, which made it one of the most united decisions in New Jersey's political history. A few months later, in April of 1970, the New Jersey Senate confirmed Ralph Batch as the New Jersey Lottery's first executive director. On December 16 of the same year, the New Jersey Lottery sold its first ticket to William T. Cahill, who was the governor at the time. Tickets soon became available at approximately 2,000 establishments throughout New Jersey.
