During fiscal year 2023, U.S. lottery sales totaled over $113.3 billion, according to the North American Association of State and Provincial Lotteries (NASPL).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Out of all the fifty states in America, there are some states that do not have a lottery. For some states like New York and California to name a few, make billions of dollars in revenue each year which goes to support education and economic development and more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Here are the five states that don\u2019t have lottery: <\/p>\n\n\n\n

2. Alaska<\/p>\n\n\n\n
3. Hawaii<\/p>\n\n\n\n
4. Nevada<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Each state has reasons why they do not support the lottery, which vary from state to state. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
1. Alabama: Religion plays a major factor that Alabama does not having a lottery. Many conservative Christian groups view gambling as immoral.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
2. Alaska: Alaska is a state that has a lot of wealth that comes from oil and does not really rely on other sources of additional revenue. Some say that having a lottery might compete with existing charitable gaming activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
3. Hawaii: Some are concerned that having a lottery might have a negative impact on the tourism-based economy. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
